Vacation Diary #57 – Porto-Vecchio, Ospedale, Zonso, Propriano

Porto-Vecchio

Today was the longest and most beautiful of all journeys. In the morning, we went from Bonifacio to Porto-Vecchio. After arriving there, we enjoyed the classical hot chocolate (very black and very bitter) sitting in front of the church you see on the picture under the spring sun.

Behind Ospedale, we almost reached the 1,000-metre level on the pass to Zonso. Then came the long decline to Propriano (interspersed with a few inclines). All in all, we rode more than 100 kilometres, accumulating around 2,000 metres in altitude. And tonight, we arrived at the Hotel Neptun. Dinner in Bellevue at Propriano (300 metres from the Neptun) was excellent.
Back in the hotel, I found out that the “wifi”, as it is apparently called in French, actually works at the Neptun.
Yesterday, in the Hotel Roy d’Artagon in Bonifacio, it did not work with my MacBook. In the morning, I was told that this is what always happens if you try it with a Mac. The expert, too, did not know why.

This was the first time such a thing happened to me. Yet, I also had to use my UTMS stick all over the place these last few days. That is rather a nuisance.

Well, so what? There are more important things in life. All these beautiful views yesterday and especially today were so great that it would be absolutely inappropriate to complain about anything at all.

Now we came up with a basic decision: we are going along the west coast for the next four days, heading north all the time! And we hope to be at Bastia on time for the morning ferry on Sunday.

What a pity that I am so tired today (after more than 100 kilometres and a lot more than 2,000 metres in altitude, it might be pardonable?). There is so much to tell. Well, this is it for today – good night and until tomorrow.
