Another 12 nights before Christmas!
We already opened 12 windows. Half of the advent time is over.
In former times, I always spent a week in Kenia with good friends of mine during this time. We used the week to spend time together, work hard on ourselves and refocus our personal compass for the coming year. And after intense days in a totally different world, there came the time to say good-bye to Africa and my friends.
We would go by bus from our quarters through the bush to Mombasa airport – and then fly back home from the bright Africa to the German darkness of December. We sat in different planes reaching different destinations. We knew that we would not meet again before another year was over.
Maybe the song is adequate …
On the old pictures of Peter, Paul and Mary from the 1960ies and early 1970ies that I still see in my mind’s eye, Mary still looks like a slim, blond deer.
Unfortunately, Mary is no longer among the living.
