As far back as I can remember, I have always loved shorts. Even when I was at school, in summer there was nothing else an option but wearing the leather shorts. Even when it rained. We are talking the 1950ies.
Then came life as a student and a professional. And the shorts disappeared from my life. With the exception of sports and at home in the garden or when camping, it was out. Because some way or other, it was taboo to go to work wearing shorts – let alone if you went to a business meeting with a customer.
How I often envied the girls when they whirled around wearing short skirts or airy dresses in summer!
Consequently, I will now practice equal rights – and I have the best of intentions to do without the long leg cover this year whenever the temperatures halfway allow it.
If there is anybody who feels disavowed having to see me in shorts and with unprotected legs, I hereby already ask their forgiveness.
