“7915 Kilometres – In the Footsteps of the Dakar Rallye” or “Munich EthnoFilmFestival”

A good friend of ours let us have two tickets for the opening film of the Munich EthnoFilmFest, which took place between November, 18th and November 22nd. The film was called “7915 Kilometres – In the Footsteps of the Dakar Rallye”. Since Africa is my secret love, I was very pleased about the free tickets.

dakarYesterday, I went to see the film. It was the wonderful closing of a strenuous day that had started at 6 a.m. with a funeral and ended in the late afternoon on the Visit.

In a nutshell: I was fascinated. The film is a very solemn affair that gets more and more exciting by the minute. Also, many people get to tell their story along the way.

This film makes you thoughtful. It also shows that we in Europe – in our extreme pettiness – are really worried about the wrong kinds of things. The film is a must for everybody who has an upright heart.

Incidentally, the film was produced by Nikolaus Geyrhalter who has already gained international acclaim with films like “Elsewhere” and “Our Daily Bread”.

So – if you are in Munich and have a little bit of time: go and see it at EthnoFilmFest!
